2016 Transit Connect Cargo Van. 106,xxx miles. Decided to dip into my credit and finance something. This one cost me $10k.
I am excited to do something to the rear of this thing. I see it as a blank canvas. First thing’s first: line the floor with the carpeting every car should be lined with.
Next, add seating. Either a small bench or a futon-like couch will suffice. Going to add some insulation for noise reduction and heat containment. I also have a set of subwoofers and amp laying around. The van comes with two weak speakers, so any help there would be a huge improvement.

Dang that’s cheap!

So you bought a TC Cargo and are turning it into a TC Passenger?
Or you’re just adding the bench for parked seating?

I'm excited to see where this goes

Does the TC cargo van have the mounting points for the factory bench? I suppose you could bolt something down really well, but automotive seating seems like one of those things where it’s pretty important that it works right.

I didn’t look for them in mine because it didn’t occur to me since I use it for work. T hese are built in Turkey and they build every single one coming stateside as a passenger van... because chicken tax. When they ship them to Baltimore they are stripped at the port and, from what I was made understand, they throw the shit away. What a waste.

I fully support this. Transit vans are great, drove several of those at my last temporary job.

Going to guess not as the Cargo has a level floor from back to the seats, the Passenger version has a lower floor in the middle.
I could be wrong though.

Parked seating. Also for when I’ve had too much to drink, and need a place to sleep.

I have heard mixed answers on forums. I will check when I re-upholster the flooring. I should have mentioned the seating in the rear isn’t for transportation. This will double as my tailgating vehicle, and a last resort for a place to sleep.

Ok, makes more sense now. I hope you enjoy your new van, we really liked the passenger version when we were looking.

Couldn’t find a passenger version in my price range. They had the first gen in that setup, but not a fan of the look or the 4-speed trans.

You’d think they’d send the seats back to Turkey to be installed in another one

I’ve never driven the new version, but I drove the last one and it was really amusing, you didn’t sit much higher than a Focus, but you had this big van roof over your head.
I fully support the addition is much shah carpeting in versions colors

that’s what I thought...I always wanna go find the place and see if I can score some windows. Backing this thing out of spots with no right rear window is irritating at times since people are dicks.

I would maybe bite on a first gen if they had made an extended version.
I think the cheapest passenger version we found was a 2015 XLT for $8k. It had 180k miles on it and needed a bunch of work. Otherwise we found a couple 2015s with around 100k miles for around $12k. They seem to hold their value really well, especially the passenger trim.

Yeah their resale is impressive. Cheapest one I saw was a ‘15 with around 200k and a rebuilt title for $ 11k. . Too suspect for me.

We couldn’t justify spending $12k on something that would likely need suspension + whatever other work that comes along with a 100k miles, so we just decided to keep what we had.
